چکیده

In this study, stiffness modulus parameters of asphalt concrete were determined experimentally for different temperature and exposure times. The stiffness modules were calculated according to Nijboer stiffness module. Basic physical properties and the quantity of bitumen of asphalt core samples were designated for determining the stiffness modules. The samples were exposed to 17 C (reference temperature), 30, 40 and 50 C temperatures for 1.5, 3, 4.5 and 6 hours and then Marhall Stability test were done for each samples. By using the test results a prediction model with Sugeno type based on the adaptive neuron-fuzzy inference system was alternatively developed to calculate the stiffness modules of asphalt core samples. As a result, it was seen that the developed prediction model could be used as a prediction model for unperformed situations which aren’t suitable for experiments.

Investigating the Performance Characteristics of Asphaltic Concrete Containing Nano-Silica

Using nano-technology materials in the asphalt pavement industry is new compared with Portland cement concrete. The main objective of this study is to investigate the effects of nano-silica modification on some properties of a penetration grade asphalt cement and a typical asphalt concrete. 60/70 penetration grade bitumen was modified with different percentages of nano-silica (i.e. 1, 3 and 5%,...

Evaluating the Semi-Circular Bending Test for HMA Mixtures

Semi-Circular Bending (SCB) Test is a fast and accurate three-point bending test, which was originally used in rock mechanics. SCB test is going to be an accepted test method for asphalt concrete pavements. Different asphalt-mixture property-values such as tensile strength, stress intensity factor and fatigue can be obtained by this test. In this study, static and dynamic tests including SCB te...

Investigating the Effects of Temperature and Loading Frequency on the Resilient Modulus of SBS Polymer Modified Asphalt Concrete in Dry and Saturated Conditions

Resilient modulus of pavement materials is a key property required for the pavement thickness design. This paper describes the results of an experimental study on the effects of temperature and loading frequency on the resilient modulus of a SBS polymer modified asphalt concrete under dry and saturated conditions. Dynamic creep tests were conducted on dry and saturated specimens of the mixture ...

Modeling of Resilient Modulus of Asphalt Concrete Containing Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement using Feed-Forward and Generalized Regression Neural Networks

Reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) is one of the waste materials that highway agencies promote to use in new construction or rehabilitation of highways pavement. Since the use of RAP can affect the resilient modulus and other structural properties of flexible pavement layers, this paper aims to employ two different artificial neural network (ANN) models for modeling and evaluating the effects of ...
